2nd order documents

The following link shows early maps of Virginia. The initial page opened will show the "capital" of Powhatan's land, the Algonquian territory: Werowocomoco. Other links will lead to maps drawn by John Smith, listing both Jamestown and Werowocomoco. With the English trying to build and reside so close to the chief and within the boundaries of the Algonquian territoy, it was inevitable the two groups had to interact.





Evidence of starvation period of 1609~1610 is demonstrated in the archaeolocial record. The following link to the Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities (APVA) shows examples of the types of remnants found to support how desperate the English were to survive:
